Training Strides For Health 5K Training Program

Kick off meeting: Friday, June 9, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. inside of AGH’s Jenner Building (545 Jenner Dr., Allegan), which is the white building on the AGH campus located across the street from Rite Aid.

The Strides for Health 5K training program is a great way to train for our 5K on Saturday, August 19, 2017! We welcome all levels of runners and walkers.

Throughout our 10-week program, a training schedule will be provided to each participant along with one time per week training session to focus on form and specific training regimen.  We will meet on Wednesdays at 6 p.m., beginning June 14 through August 16 to help encourage and motivate participants during the program. The first six Wednesdays will be split between strength and cardiovascular training with the goal to improve running mechanics.  The last three weeks will focus on our longer distance intervals as we taper for race day.

Additionally, at our Kick Off Meeting, you can be briefly screened and educated on ways to improve your personal performance, if so desired.

The cost of the program is $10. Participants who take part in 70% of the group walk/runs and complete the Strides for Health 5K will be receiving their $10 back on race day. The weekly group meets will take place at the Allegan General Hospital Physical Rehabilitation Center.
